Atsushi Tomita has worked as Technical Officer for several laboratories under Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. Having finished Master’s study at New York University, he joined Ph.D. program at Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the City University of New York and earned the degree in 2017 under the title: Land change history of oil palm plantations in northern Bengkulu Province, Sumatra Island, reconstructed from Landsat satellite archives. He is currently working on developing land change detection method which combines Landsat-type optical sensors, SAR, LiDAR and Google-Earth.
