Statistics About Groundwater Wells, I Didn't Just Pull Them Out Of My Hat

Water in California is a magical topic. With the passing of the Strategic Groundwater Management Act and increasing awareness of groundwater topics, people are becoming more interested in learning about the sustainability of their groundwater systems. One key element of understanding groundwater sustainability is the number, location, construction, and capacity of production wells installed in your neighborhood. Historically these numbers have been very challenging to determine statewide, but recently a new Online System for Well Completion Reports went live and as part of that project hundreds of thousands of well completion reports were migrated to this system and, by utilizing the online reporting features, we’re able to derive well statistics across the state. Follow along as we show the magic of well information across California.
